Claritin Outsideology Project

Did you know that bees have five eyes? Or that rabbits eat their own poop? In celebration of Spring and a return to nature that has been welcomed more than ever, we teamed up with Energy BBDO to create an animated music video that celebrates the joy of the outdoors, entitled “Unboring Starts With U” for Claritin. The video is led by a laid back outside-loving tree who entices a trio of electronics-obsessed kids off their couch and into their yard to explore the magical possibilities of being an “Outsideologist.” This colorful and fun music...

Paramount Animation Logo

ATKPLN worked alongside the teams at Paramount Animation to create a new trademark logo featuring a new character: a tween girl named “The Star Skipper” who bounces a rock on a lake, which turns in to a star that joins in creating the new Paramount Animation Logo. I used Flame to help paint cleanup some of the cloth at the beginning when we see the Star Skipper, and also tracked in some other fixes in flame. There were some other artifacts in the very complex render that I fixed, including some stray flowers and rocks in the...

Arlington Tourism “Arli & The World Of Wonderful”

What is the best way to convince audiences of where to spend their hard earned vacation? This was the creative challenge ATKPLN faced while working on “Arli and the World of Wonderful” for Arlington Conventions & Visitors Bureau. Partnering with creative agency Peter Mayer, we worked to bring to life a fully animated world that highlighted just how much fun the city of Arlington provides. Executing a fully turn-key piece, the ATKPLN team introduced the world to the Wonderfuls, a young family who seem to be stuck in the...

Oncor “Keep Away From Power Lines”

In partnership with Oncor, this piece aimed to educate an age demographic between 4-11 years old about the dangers of downed power lines. In order to do so, we wanted to create a world and characters made out of realistic, hard surface textures familiar to kids everywhere. I maintained the edit and helped facilitated dailies sessions, helping the team maintain continuity between shots and quality. I also did some fixes to the CG plates, enhanced the sun flare in the shots toward the back of the spot, and comped in the end graphic...

Chex Quest Game Trailer

Sometimes, you just capture lightning in a bottle. Like when a game that started out as a fan-made game project winds up being the reboot game sensation of the year. (Well, for a small cult following, anyway.) Chex Quest originally came in Chex cereal boxes waaaay back in 1996. In 2020, Flight School Studios and General Mills combined to create Chex Quest HD, complete with new characters, multiplayer features and tons of ⚡️ZORCHING⚡️. A great game like this needs engaging cutscenes and a great game trailer… so I was asked to help make...

Doritos “Bolder” Campaign

I colored and onlined this Doritos campaign, which was a joint effort between Frito Lay and different cinemas to get nachos inside the theater concessions. I also helped with previs of the CG chips and cheese so that the frames could be figured out beforehand, before the lengthy (and costly) process of simulating and rendering the CG effects. After I got the renders, there were a number of fixes to do to the cheese and chips, especially the end frame where they land in the bowl. In addition, I added some warping to the CG cheese so that it...

Frito-Lay Poppables “Pop Perspective”

Frito-Lay Poppables “Pop Perspective”

We worked directly with Frito-Lay to generate several ideas for new campaigns for their Poppables chip brand. “Pop Perspective” called for a world that changes into a fun, colorful place whenever people bite n’ smile a Poppable chip. We responded with a very fun ad that conveys every bit of that. (Disclaimer: Poppables chips are not laced with mind-altering substances.) I helped plan the execution of the visual effects, and was on set as visual effects supervisor to ensure that we shot the plates that we needed. I prepped...

Transamerica “Longevity”

This commercial spot called for a “popup book” effect similar to the one our studio did for the movie Enchanted. We shot the footage planning for certain vignettes to be frozen and broken apart to create the popup elements. In some cases entire sections of the image had to be modified to fit the popup look, and we had to fake quite a number of things (but hey, that’s what we’re good at.) I helped plan and execute both of the popup effects, and I cut out and prepped all the elements. I worked with the rest of our team...

DFS / Lego 2 Movie Promo

Our Lego expertise was once again called upon, this time for a DFS Winter Sale. I maintained the online edit as CG shots were coming in, and then I onlined the final deliverable and did some final color tweaks. I also did a number of different end tag versions and created a graphic toolkit so the client could rebuild future end tags as...
